I wish I could put into words how much I love this couple. I met Janell a little over a year ago. I was looking for a 2nd shooter and I found more than that, she has become a great friend.  She is literally the kindest person i’ve ever met and when I talk about her, I always put my hand over my heart, because that’s just how people feel around Janell.

I was so excited when she asked me to be a part of her and Kyle’s wedding. She had a vision, she wanted it small, in the woods, with snow on the ground. It didn’t seem like too much to ask, since we live in Michigan.  Our first huge snow fall happened right before Christmas, unfortunately, these two didn’t have everything ready just yet. We had been texting back and forth wishing that we would see snow in the forecast, but it wasn’t looking good! Then it finally happened, so they rushed to get everything done in just under a week, and it turned out perfect.

These two, they are so in love. They both care so much about each other, even the gifts they gave each other were some of the most thoughtful I had ever been a part of. They also gave every single person that attended their wedding a gift, that Janell handmade. Told you she was great. I am so happy for these two and I am so thankful and grateful I was there to capture this beautiful day. It’s weddings and people like this that give me the best job in the world.  I love you two! xoxo

Kyle made this for Janell our of their first Christmas Tree. He wanted to surprise her with it at the ceremony and he carved, “forever my love” into it. How cute are they?? Janell’s mom seeing it for the first time right here.

When I first met Victoria and Colbert, I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding. They were getting married in Northern Michigan on the beach with all of their closest family and friends. I arrived in Petoskey the night before the wedding, it was blue skies and pretty much perfect,  I was hoping Saturday would be similar weather. My second shooter and I woke up Saturday to crazy wind and rain, the wind was so bad, the branches outside were hitting our hotel room window. It’s always a little nerve wracking when the weather is like this, as a photographer, everyone looks to you for direction. I love my job so much that I 100% care about the photos as much as my client does. I want them to be the best they can be, so I was trying to have the mindset that everything would work out, and it did, and this was one of my favorite weddings of the year. I arrived at Victoria’s family home and while I was taking photos of her details, I heard her and her mom screaming downstairs. They were getting all of their anger out because the weather wasn’t what they had dreamed of for the big day. They were debating on whether or not to have the ceremony outside and chance it. Victoria’s dad made the call shortly before, it looked like we had a small window of no rain, so they decided to go ahead and do it outside! About 2 minutes into the ceremony, it started pouring and everyone barely made it to the tent. Even though it was a little hectic, this was THEIR day.  Victoria and Colbert made the best of it, wouldn’t let rain ruin their wedding, and because of that, I was able to get some amazing shots. This day was a day they will never forget, and I won’t either.

I love these.  I showed Victoria the picture of her on the left, and this was her reaction on the right 🙂

Crossing her fingers for no rain! Victoria was a little nervous, so her brother(man of honor), helped her relax by jumping up and down. They are so fun. <3

This trip was just what I needed to get some inspiration. Pam and Dave are the clients I love, they are willing to do a whole lot to get some unique photos. When we were first talking about their engagement photos, they were talking about flying me out for a shoot in TX. After some thought, they figured it would just be easier to do them over Christmas somewhere in Detroit. I had been really excited about heading somewhere new that I did some research and talked Pam into doing them out there again:) I had found this place, Caprock Canyon and it just so happened Dave and Pam had gone camping there last year. So I hopped on a plane, drove 4 hours, stayed in a hotel in a small town, ate texas shaped pancakes in the morning, saw some buffalo, and almost got lost in the middle of nowhere on the way home in the dark.  It was all worth it.  I’m so glad Pam and Dave were in for an adventure, this trip was unforgettable and I can’t wait to be a part of your wedding! 🙂 xoxo
